Mark Doyle Fine Art

Born to a professional artist, I learned to draw and paint with oils in my mother's art studio from a very young age. By the age of 12, and under her tutelage, I sold my first oil paintings in the family art gallery (converted Ontario farmhouse) that my parents rented near the Thousand Islands from the mid-60s until the early 80's. Like my mother, I took much of my painting inspiration at the time from our beautiful rural surroundings, including lakes, islands, rivers, trees, and farmland.

Following a 30-year career in finance in Toronto and extensive travel around the world, I was drawn back to art, launching my second artistic journey. Maintaining my interest in realism (and impressionism), I paint with acrylics on canvas, exploring diverse subjects of the natural world, still life, and slices of urban life that move me. I select a subject and paint to draw the viewer in by emphasizing light, shadow, and color to connect in ways that evoke positive emotional responses such as joy, and gratitude.
